The Tilden Art Center at Cape Cod Community College is a hub of education for the fine and performing arts. The facility houses a 600-seat proscenium theater, a 150-seat “black-box” theater, two art studios, and the Higgins Art Gallery. Musical, dance, and theatre productions by the Department of Arts & Communication as well as guest performing groups can be enjoyed year-round.

The Performing Arts Program at Cape Cod Community College offers a full range of credit bearing courses towards a two or four year degree. Courses include Introduction To Theater, Acting, Rehearsal and Performance, Stagecraft & Theatre Technologies, Stage Movement, Play Production, Musical Theatre Dance, Modern Dance, Directing, and much more. Graduates of the program have gone on to university and conservatory programs at Pace University, AMDA, AADA, Salem State, Bridgewater State, UMass Amherst and Boston and more. Students have also gone on to gainful employment in lighting design and stage technologies, or to gain internships with the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF), The Bay Colony Shakespeare Company, Commonwealth Shakespeare, The Cape Playhouse, and more.

Each semester, fully-staged productions are complemented by the “Play With Your Food” series of staged readings, featuring new works by local playwrights, and providing actors and directors with additional opportunities to develop their crafts.

From 2013-2015, Cape Cod Community College was the proud host for the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (Region 1), as thousands of theatre students, faculty and professionals gathered for a week each January to attend workshops, training, performances and audition opportunities. Faculty member Vana Trudeau is a member of the Executive Board for KCACTF Region 1, as Chair of Arts Management and Administration.

  1. While attending 4-C’s (long ago) I took day trips to NYC with the art club … do you still offer them? Also, I went to Paris with the Neil Cronin groups (sorry to hear of his passing) when he took people in the Spring and Fall. Does this trip (or other international) still exist? Your info would be appreciated by many.
